Seniors Kaitlyn Gil, center, and Maylin Lourvier, left, embrace as the rest of the Rock-A-Noos join in after defeating Crosby in the bidistrict round of the Class 5A playoffs in Pasadena.

The Port Neches-Groves Rock-A-Noos had a successful season, going 10-2 in district play while notching an overall record of 33-7.

Led  by reigning district MVP and senior Kaitlyn Gil, the Noos ran into new district foes Cleveland, Crosby, Dayton and Barbers Hill during the regular season.

It’s only two district losses came at the hands of Barbers Hill.

The regular season also included straight-set sweeps of Mid-County rival, Nederland.

“I think we did really well,” said Gil, named the district MVP following the season. “Everything we accomplished this season was a team effort.”

After the regular season, the Noos set their sights on the playoffs, with Crosby coming first in the bidistrict round.

It took four sets, but the Noos advanced to the area round match to face Richmond Foster.

The team’s playoff run ended there, falling in straight sets — including a 25-27 thriller in the second. “Despite that last loss, I still think we did really well,” Kaitlyn Gil said. “I already miss it so much.”
