Varsity swimmers qualify for regional meet

Mr. Tobias, Adviser

The varsity swim team qualified for the regional meet after today’s performance in the District 22-5A swim meet at the Beaumont ISD Natatorium.

Thomas Reinholt was named Athlete of the Meet after his performance in today’s races — despite having to leave early for varsity baseball obligations, according to coach Ashlie Nobles-Edwards.

A senior, Reinholt placed first in the boys 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.36. He placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.44.

Nathan Clark placed fifth in the boys 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:07.78. The junior year placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.59.

For the girls, Caroline Reinholt, sophomore, placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.88. She placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:32:91.

“Once again, my swimmers exceeded my expectations,” Nobles-Edwards said. “They did fantastic. I couldn’t be more proud of these Indians — playing multiple sports and making the grades to do so.”

Because of the student athletes’ spring sports commitments, the team opted out of participating in the regional meet.

“It’s just an honor to have made it with such a small team,” Nobles-Edwards said.
