The season might be over, but the Indians varsity girls basketball team continue earning praise for their historic 2018-19 campaign.

Seven members of the roster were named to the 21-5A All-District team, including two on the First Team and two on the Second Team.

The First Team honorees are juniors Mollee Priddy and Maylin Stampley.

Second Team honorees are seniors Julissa Gomez and Chelsea Carillo.

Seniors Harlee Barnwell, Holly Jones and Britney Brevell were named as Second Team Honorable Mentions.

“I mean, in case you didn’t already know … the babies racked up,” first-year coach Kara Skinner wrote on Twitter last week. “So proud of these kids and their progress … what a ride.”

On Monday, the team was honored with the “Spotlight on Excellence” award during the monthly Port Neches-Groves ISD Board of Trustees meeting.

Each player and coach, Skinner wrote on Twitter, played an instrumental role in making the playoffs for the first time in school history.

“I’m beyond proud of each and every one of them,” Skinner wrote. “Thank you for your determination! Love you all!”
