Indian swimmers advance to regionals

Port Neches-Groves swimmers advanced to the regional meet after a successful District 23-5A meet in Beaumont.

Girls and boys swim team members advanced to Regionals after competing at the District 23-5A swim meet last Saturday at the Beaumont ISD Natatorium.

The Regional meet will take place this Friday at Magnolia High School.

The boys team came in first place, securing the district championship by winning the the 200-meter medley relay and placing 2nd in the 200-meter freestyle relay.

Freshman Nathan Clarke finished 7th in the 100-meter freestyle and 8th in the 50-meter freestyle.

Junior Jacob Smith gave it his all at the district swim meet, placing 5th in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter freestyle on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Beaumont ISD Natatorium.

Sophomore Thomas Reinholt finished 1st in the 100-meter backstroke and 2nd in the 50-meter freestyle.

Junior Jacob Smith placed 5th in the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter freestyle.

Junior Jake Plante swam to 4th place in the 100 meter breaststroke.

All four qualified for the Regional meet, along with girls senior captain Catherine Reinholt, who took 1st place in both the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle races.

Also competing Saturday were sophomore Kiley Weatherly, who swam to 9th place in the 50-meter freestyle while sophomore Bianca McManus swam to 12th.
