Bates earns coaching career win No. 300
January 9, 2019
Port Neches-Groves varsity girls soccer coach Aimee Bates earned her 300th career victory over the weekend during the team’s road-trip appearance at the Waller tournament.
A moment of celebration was captured by team mothers as the players surrounded Bates with a banner which read, “Coach Bates, 300 Wins.”
“I am honored to lead this program and am humbled by the support,” Bates told NDNPress.com. “This 300th win is not just about me. It is about every coach that has helped make us a strong staff year after year. It is about the 200-plus kids that bought into the culture and go to battle to get these wins. I am only part of this equation and I am looking forward to earning the next 100.”
Bates took to social media after the tournament, reflecting on the growth of her team, rather than her own feat.
“We went to Waller this weekend for a weekend of tough, physical soccer,” Bates posted on Facebook after the trip. “We ended up 1-1-2 against some legit teams. Looking forward to watching them grow into the team we know they can be.”
