Jacob Smith: An #NDNSatHOME Story
April 17, 2020
Jacob Smith is a senior at PN-G. On a normal school day, he is involved in National Honor Society, cross country, swimming, powerlifting, track and field and as the Indian Spirit. This is his #NDNSatHOME story.
Q: How do you keep yourself busy at home?
A: I’ve been focusing on keeping my diet clean, getting my workouts in and occasionally doing my homework.
Q: What is something fun you’ve done this week?
A: My brothers and I have been going fishing at a canal by our house every day since quarantine started, that’s been pretty fun. I also got to participate in the teachers parades for the elementary schools.
Q: What is one thing you have wanted to do this week?
A: The state powerlifting meet was last month, which I qualified for, and I would have liked to compete there since it’s my last year to do it as a senior.
Q: How do you like the online assignments? Are they easy or hard?
A: I like regular school way better; I like to see my friends at school and online school is very boring to me.
Q: What is one thing you miss from school? Why?
A: I miss seeing my classmates and my extracurricular activities; I probably won’t see most of my classmates outside of school and I might not ever get the chance to do some of my sports ever again if we don’t go back.
Q: How do you feel about no more toilet paper in the stores?
A: It doesn’t really bother me. You’re psychotic if that’s your first thought in a global pandemic.
Q: What’s the most interesting thing you’ve seen or heard throughout this experience?
A: I saw somewhere on social media that we may have to repeat the same grade if this worsens; it’s most likely fake news but it was an interesting thought.
To the underclassmen: Enjoy every second of high school, it goes by in the blink of an eye. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, so make the best of the time you have.
