Lifters press on at West Brook meet

Fourteen athletes placed between both the girls and boys powerlifting teams during Thursday’s meet at West Brook High School in Beaumont.
A trio of lifters — Gabbi Falgout (181-pound class), Alice Myers (144-pound class) and Penelope Robles (123-pound class) — placed second in their respective weight division to top the the girls’ results.
Rounding out their team were Payton Jones (third place, 165-pound class), Nickole Wiltz (third place, 259-pound class), Brynleigh Curtis (fourth place, 220-pound class) and Savannah Roberts (fifth place, 198-pound class).
For the boys, a trio of lifters placed first in their respective weight divisions to lead their team: Raymon Castaneda (123-pound class), Jacob Smith (165-pound class) and Rob Rector (275-pound class).
Also placing for the boys in the 165-pound class were Garrett Hicks (third place), Andrew Martin (fourth place) and Gavin Duba (sixth place).
